MASON KLEIN JOINS 2024 KOVE DAKAR EFFORT
Kove shocked the motorcycle world at the beginning of the year by going Three for Three at the 2023 Dakar Rally. Widely considered to be one of the most demanding Dakar races in at least the last decade, the previously unheard-of motorcycle brand put itself on the map and proved its reliability, with all three racers and bikes finishing the grueling event.
Not content to simply rest on their laurels from the previous year, Kove has developed a new Dakar platform for 2024 that is lighter, slimmer, and more powerful than before. And to showcase the capabilities of the new bike, Kove is thrilled to announce that American rider Mason Klein will pilot one of the new bikes in Dakar 2024!
Mason immediately took the rally world by storm with a breakout performance at his first Dakar; his 9th place overall in 2022 showed the bright future this young racer has in the sport. In 2023, Mason was battling up front and even took a stage win! After already proving himself at previous versions of the Dakar, Mason is ready to take himself and Kove to the next level in 2024.
I think the bike is ready to go. I really feel like I wouldn’t go there if I wasn’t there to win. Top ten is the easy part; we already did that. My mom says “Finish,” but last time I told my mom I wanted top 10 and we got it, so this time I’m saying I want to win…that’s the goal.
In addition to their Factory Team effort in 2024, Kove is pleased to support Mason and his Klein Off-Road Racing Team at Dakar. Mason will ride the new 2024 Kove 450 Rally EX and will have access to the same tools and parts as the Factory Team, but he will also have the added flexibility and comfort of his own program. This split approach will allow the new Kove rally machine to be developed simultaneously with two methodologies.
Kove Moto USA will do everything they can to support Mason’s efforts leading up to Dakar in January. As soon as the next shipment of bikes arrives, we will deliver a current-model Kove 450 Rally Pro so Mason can get some seat time. Mason will also have one of the exciting new MX250 models so he can get some cross-training in. Be sure to follow along every step of the way!
